GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Saab seems confused. It appeared to have given its blessing to the Swedish edition of the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport to run what looked an awful lot like official images of the redesigned 2010 Saab 9-5 sedan that officially debuts next month at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.
After the wink-wink-nudge-nudge show-and-tell, now Saab comes at car buyers with a coy teaser Web site animation that shows a car covered up by a sheet and design boss Simon Padian wandering back and forth in front of the car, checking his wristwatch.
By the time the new 9-5 reaches production sometime next year, Saab likely will have a new owner — Koenigsegg, the Swedish supercar maker, which has just signed a purchase agreement with outgoing corporate parent General Motors.
Inside Line says: The official reveal is slated for next Thursday, August 27 — unless, of course, you've already checked out the official images here and at Auto Motor und Sport's web site. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
