Saab Offers Hirsch Performance Parts in U.S.

    Just the Facts:
    • The main performance mod is the remapped ECU that's available for both the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 and the turbo 2.8-liter V6.
    • Installation of the parts does not breach factory warranty.
    • Pricing and availability will soon be offered on the Saab Web site.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Saab has extended its partnership with Swiss tuner Hirsch Performance to the United States and is now offering Hirsch accessories for the 2007-'11 9-3 and 2010-'11 9-5 through its U.S. dealer network.

The main performance mod is the remapped ECU that's available for both the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 and the turbo 2.8-liter V6. The remapping increases output by 30 horsepower for both engines, meaning the 2.0-liter makes 260 hp and the V6 now delivers 330 hp at the flywheel. Other available performance upgrades include exhaust, sport springs, suspension and brake kits.

Some available exterior accessories include new decklid spoilers, four-piece grille inserts, alloy wheels, carbon-fiber front splitters and carbon-fiber rear diffusers. Inside, the tuner offers everything from aluminum pedals to carbon-fiber trim on the instrument panel.

The good news for owners is that these parts don't breach the warranty on the car; if they are installed within 60 days of sale of the new vehicle, they get the same warranty as the new car.

Pricing and availability will soon be available on the Saab U.S. Web site.

For pricing of the individual parts without installation, visit the Hirsch Performance Web site.

I'm waiting for the individual dealerships to get a hold of some of these parts. Jim Ellis Saab has limited quantities of this (http://www.jimellissaabatlanta.com), but I'm wondering if this is an access issue. Are these parts going to be "drizzled" out by Hirsch or are they readily making the entire inventory line available to the dealerships? Since this is  new development, I suppose it's a wait and see situation.

Can they crank out 330 hp from the stock 280 on the 9-3 Aeros with the turbo V6?

    ...

    Because that would be AWESOME.

I agree with 93aero fan boy. Looks good and the increased HP and Torque may make it worth the actual sticker price, but that depends on how high it is.
