    Just the Facts:
    • The first Saabs sold under Spyker ownership will arrive in the U.S. this spring.
    • Spyker has priced the 2010 9-3 lower than the previous 9-3.
    • The 2010 9-3 Sport Sedan starts at $29,725.

DETROIT — Saab said the first of its 2010 models — from the largely carryover 9-3 range — will begin arriving at U.S. dealerships "during the next few weeks," many of them wearing lower sticker prices. The cars are the first to be produced for the U.S. market following the acquisition of Saab from General Motors by Spyker Cars, the Dutch specialty-car builder.

Saab says it has reduced suggested retail prices from 4-12 percent on selected 2010 9-3 models.

"This pricing action allows Saab to be in line with the market," said Mike Colleran, president and COO of Saab Cars North America.

A new variant for 2010 is the Saab 9-3X, essentially a jacked-up, loaded-up derivative of the 9-3 SportCombi wagon. Priced from $37,800, including shipping charges, the 9-3X features standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Prices on the 2010 9-3 Sport sedan range from $29,725 for the base 2.0T to $38,940 for the Aero. The 2009 9-3 Sport sedan 2.0T Touring started at $30,060.

The 2010 9-3 SportCombi wagon is priced at $31,155 for the 2.0T and $37,845 for the Aero. Last year, SportCombi stickers began at $31,790.

The 2010 9-3 Convertible starts at $40,815 for the 2.0T, ranging up to $45,905 for the Aero. In 2009, 9-3 Convertible pricing started at $42,130, with the range-topping 9-3 Convertible Aero at $51,380.

I agree that SAAB needs to market this car much more aggressively.  Price them so that they are such a good value that the consumer won't want to pass them up.  I'm not saying loose money on them but bring them down into the mid $20's.  SAAB seems to want to sell their cars as a high end luxury brand competing with the likes of Audi and BMW.  Maybe one day but the folks that are buying those cars are not even looking at SAAB.  SAAB should appeal to the buyer that wants a step up from Honda and Toyota but wants European.  Build a solid foundation of mid-level buyers.

i have owned two saabs, a 1990 900s and a 1988 9000 turbo, they were really nice cars and fun to drive and tough, but i agree with the other posters who say they are way over priced, another sad thing is a lot of people do not even know what a saab is,they need to do something about that to

What I don't get is that this car has almost the exact same starting price as the larger, more refined Volvo XC70, which is also built on a newer platform than the Saab.  Considering that Volvo is probably Saab's biggest rival, not to mention the cheaper Outback and other crossovers, Saab desperately needs to lower the price on this car.

+1 dc325ix, need the price to be more in line with its abilities (or lack thereof).

I agree - as I never got it either - way over priced and AWD was almost non-existent - the problem is they need to lower the prices 10k across the board if they expect to gain any market share in the US.

Never understood what the appeal of these cars - at least in modern form - is.
