SAINT GALLEN, Switzerland — The Saab tuning specialist Hirsch has released a completely carbon fiber aerodynamic package for the Saab 9-3 Aero convertible, sedan and SportCombi.

Hirsch enlisted help from Saab aerodynamics specialist Hakan Danielsson and designer Taras Czornyj to create a package that enhances the exterior while reducing drag and improving stability.

The treatment includes a four-piece mesh front grille, front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a bigger rear spoiler. Saab's SportCombi gets special treatment with a large "air slicing" roof spoiler that was tested in the MIRA wind tunnel. The Royal Netherlands Motor Vehicle Authority has verified that the parts do not jeopardize the safety of the car, Hirsch said.

Pricing for the full kit is the equivalent of $4,600. Components can be purchased separately on the company's Web site.

Inside Line says: Hirsch's 9-3 Aero treatment gives the vehicle a more aggressive look without compromising its factory sportiness. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
