DETROIT — Saab is offering an Apple iPad to the first 500 customers who order a new 9-4X between January 15 and February 28, 2011. The cost of the iPad will be refunded when the deal is sealed, according to Saab's pre-order Web site.

The Saab 9-4X will start at $35,005, including an estimated destination charge of $800. Saab said deliveries of the vehicle will start in May.

Saab said, "When your 9-4X arrives, the purchase price of the vehicle will be credited $500." Buyers will receive the iPad from the participating dealer two to three weeks after they order the car. However, if they already own an iPad, there will be no cash discount or related credit off the purchase price of the vehicle, according to Saab.

Saab is not the first automaker to tap into the tremendous popularity of the Apple iPad. Hyundai used one to generate buzz about its Equus sedan when it used the iPad for its owner's manual.

a cheesy ploy for an ugly duck.

Mr. Muller please take note that you must differentate the look and feel of any saab and its purpose. It must be unique and epitomize some of the qualities of past saabs (sportiness, hipness, go anywhere attitude, look).  A saab made in mexico ?

At least equus decided to load an app to service their cars. Here it's just a credit on the sticker ?

Also it cannot be a dead giveaway for a GM platform. I would never even consider this car. While I don't like the bmw x6 at least they had the audacity to be unique and bodacious.

I miss my all purpose 900/9000 who killed the hatchback concepts ? ? ? Rhetorical question.
