SHANGHAI — Shanghai Auto said it will display a four-door concept called Roewe N1 at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show. Although SAIC has not revealed any further details, it is believed that N1 is a companion to the new MG6 that also will be uncovered at the show.

Both the Roewe N1 and the MG6 are said to be based on the midsize Roewe 550 platform, which in turn was derived from the earlier Rover 75 platform.

So far, SAIC has only released teaser sketches of the Roewe N1 concept. Speculation is that the Roewe brand will continue to be promoted heavily in the China domestic market as the company's premium marque, while the MG banner will be flown in key overseas markets.
