NEW DELHI — Renault's road map for India is marked by the planned introduction of several new models over the next two years — including the launch of the Fluence and Koleos in 2011 — and the establishment of a "full range" of new products by 2014.
Company executives speaking at Auto Expo 2010 here said Renault-Nissan manufacturing is "well on track" and is "a key asset for our ambitions in India."
Marc Nassif, head of Renault India, said many of the new models will be produced at the Chennai plant. "Our range [in India] will have small to luxury cars and will be a mix of Renault models and shared-platform cars within the Renault-Nissan Alliance, including a crossover," he said.
Among the vehicles Renault is displaying at the Delhi show is the Twizy Z.E. concept, intended "to demonstrate the advanced technology and level of preparedness that Renault has in electric vehicles."
Inside Line says: It has taken Renault many years to craft a logical — and achievable — strategy in the India market. Now it's time to execute. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
