AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited, which is aimed at "affluent pickup truck buyers," will debut in February at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
Pricing for the Laramie Limited, which goes on sale in the second quarter, has not been announced. However, pricing is likely to start around $45,000. The 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn, the current top-of-the-line model, starts at $44,120, including a $995 destination charge.
The range-topping Laramie Limited gets leather seats, ambient cabin lighting and a gauge cluster that says "Designed in Detroit." It also includes a navigational radio, remote start, back-up camera, power adjustable pedals, heated steering wheel, front ventilated and heated seats and rear heated seats.
The Ram Laramie Limited will be available in 1500, 2500 HD and 3500 HD single- and dual-rear-wheel, crew cab and mega cab versions, along with four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive and short- and long-wheelbase models.
"Ram Laramie Limited offers customers an even wider selection of luxury models," said Fred Diaz, president and CEO of Ram Truck Brand in a statement on Thursday. "We expect a lot of interest in the Laramie Limited."
Earlier this month, Chrysler reported that Ram truck sales increased 21 percent in 2011 versus 2010. The automaker sold 257,610 Ram trucks in 2011 versus 212,952 in 2010. It did not break down sales by individual models.
Inside Line says: Are you ready to shell out $45,000 for a fancy version of the Ram 1500?

The Pentastar will be a good addition, but it is still at aruond 300hp.
Now that will blow away the current 3.7 in power, torque and mpg's.
I'm talking about something to compete with the EcoBoost's combination of power and mpg's (on paper anyway). That's what I want to see.

And Chrysler is about to announce a new small "DODGE" RAM truck with a 4 cylinder Cummins Diesel that will be the least expensive to run than all trucks on the market including the 4 banger Tacoma ! It will be targeted at the non-affluent buyer that has to work for a living and the family guy or gal that has to stretch every dollar ! Hope the country club execs at "DODGE" division sees this ! OH, put the DODGE name back on the tailgate for this practical new truck EXEC'S !

Want it got to have it. The Longhorn is too redneckish for me.

"Designed in Detroit and made in Mexico is what the gauge cluster should say...I believe I would just left off "Design in Detroit"."
HD trucks are made in Mexico.
The one pictured is produced at Warren Truck.

In my mind, the only thing missing is an answer to the Ecoboost.

I use to buy only Dodge truck's but this new one is just too soft all around, main reason I am getting a Ford truck.

If I was in the market for a high-end pickup truck, it would be a difficult decision. I've driven an F-150 Platinum, Silverado, and Tundra. I like all of them. I'm sure I would like the Ram too. Of the ones I've driven, I prefer the Ford, but they are all very nice.
Does Nissan have any plans to redo the Titan? The Titan is miles behind the others now.
