STUTTGART, Germany — Porsche is moving ahead with plans to build a four-door Panamera convertible, as revealed in drawings obtained from the European patent office and leaked on Autocar and other Web sites.
According to Autocar, there had been rumors in Europe that the car had been canceled. But the British publication reports that Porsche has filed new patent applications in the U.S. and renewed its European applications.
News and drawings of the Panamera convertible follow closely the release of leaked drawings of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG roadster.
Unlike the two-door SLS roadster, the Panamera convertible is a four-door, with the central B-pillar removed. It is not clear from the drawings whether the Porsche's top will be fabric or a hardtop.
