    Just the Facts:
    • Porsche announces two new package upgrades for the Panamera.
    • Porsche Panamera Turbo Powerkit bumps output to 540 horsepower for $21,730.
    • Sport Design package with new exterior trim costs $4,590.

ATLANTA — Porsche Panamera buyers who long to leave a personal imprint on the car now have a wider range of choices, courtesy of new upgrades that the German automaker detailed on Tuesday. They include the $21,730 Porsche Panamera Turbo Powerkit that's available only on the Panamera Turbo.

The Powerkit will be available next month as a Porsche option and increases engine output by 40 horses to 540 horsepower. It features two new turbochargers with titanium aluminum turbines. Porsche was careful to point out that "a Panamera Turbo with the Powerkit consumes no more fuel than the 500-hp production model." The Powerkit also will be available as a retrofit upgrade by Porsche Tequipment starting in November.

The Panamera also gets a new $4,590 Sport Design package that bundles an exterior-color-painted front fascia with widened black air intake grilles and side skirts. The side skirts are also available separately for $1,390. This option will be available in October as a Porsche Exclusive option or a Porsche Tequipment retrofit upgrade.

Another upgrade is new 20-inch Panamera Sport wheels. Pricing on this option varies by model. The wheels are available from Porsche Exclusive in GT silver metallic, black, or in the exterior car color. They also will be available from Porsche Tequipment in GT silver metallic and black.

they need to fix the styling, not the performance

last weekend I was with a group of casual car fans, not IL reader types, and when a Panamera went by us all I heard was "that is one ugly car" or "no way is that a Porsche" or "what was Porsche thinking" or "who would pay money for one of those" or ...

    every automaker makes mistakes

I can understand it being from the factory and retaining the warranty, but it's almost embarrassing when compared to what this company gives you for the money...

If I owned one of these, I'd wait to see what Hennesey comes up with. Probably more bang for the buck.

That'll be one quick frog but $21K is a steep price to pay for 40 extra ponies.  I guess that's the price for a factory-exclusive upgrade with a warranty.

There must be a market for this since Mercedes started it with the $10K AMG Performance Package upgrade for the AMG models.
