ATLANTA — U.S. consumers will get their first up-close look at the 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid when the Cayenne lineup makes its North American debut on March 31 at the 2010 New York Auto Show.

The Cayenne lineup made its global debut earlier, at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.

Porsche said on Wednesday that the North American Cayenne model range will include four models: the 2011 Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne S Hybrid. The S and Turbo models go on sale in July, with the Cayenne and Cayenne S Hybrid in showrooms this fall.

The Cayenne S Hybrid gets a full hybrid system with a combined power output of 380 horsepower from the supercharged V6 and an electric motor. The entry-level Cayenne is equipped with a 300-hp 3.6-liter V6, while the Cayenne S gets a 4.8-liter V8 that produces 400 hp, 15 more than the previous model. The Cayenne Turbo gets a 500-hp 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8.

Porsche said other models bound for the Big Apple include the 2011 911 Turbo Cabriolet.

What an incredible difference. The Cayenne's appearance has gone from awkward and incomplete to well turned out in the re-design. Again, what a BIG BIG BIG difference as compared with the original. It's great that they've stayed calm, sensible and as a result kept this vehicle looking distinctly like itself instead of changing the appearance into something completely different.

    Well done.

This is the best SUV out there, period. How much is the question, If I can get Nav for around 55k, I am sold.
