2008 Paris Auto Show Preview: Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia

    0 Ratings
PARIS — Porsche will introduce its 2010 Cayenne S Transsyberia to the world at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. The automaker says the special edition, based on the Cayenne S that has won the Transsyberia Rally three times in a row, is "the most capable Cayenne yet."

The Cayenne S Transsyberia will have the Cayenne GTS's 408-horsepower 4.8-liter V8 with direct fuel injection, mated to Porsche's Tiptronic S six-speed automatic transmission.

The Cayenne also will have Porsche Active Suspension Management, air suspension and permanent all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management, which divides torque between front and rear with a 62 percent rear bias for better on-road driving.

Visual touches on the Cayenne S Transsyberia include stainless steel skid plates front and back, contrasting-color 18-inch Cayenne S II wheels, and contrasting color on the air intake vent fins, biplane roof spoiler and exterior mirrors. As no-cost options, Transsyberia owners can get a set of Cayenne S Transsyberia labeled side strips and off-road roof lights.

Inside, the SUV gets sport seats with Alcantara inserts and an Alcantara-covered multifunction steering wheel — with a "twelve o'clock" mark at the top.

The Cayenne S Transsbyeria will be out in the U.S. in early spring, priced at $70,800. Only some 600 will be available to U.S. buyers.
