The Stepfather Is Porsche: Volkswagen Caddy Carrera Cup Edition 2.0TDI R

SÖODERTÄLJE, Sweden — Although we are used to seeing the Carrera nameplate on the back of the iconic Porsche sports cars, the ongoing link between Porsche and VW has allowed for a special-edition Caddy van bearing the same name.

Offered by VW's Swedish subsidiary, this Golf-based city delivery vehicle features VW's 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that makes 138 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It takes the special Caddy less than 10.6 seconds to sprint to 60 mph and tops out at just around 115 mph.

The limited run of 250 vehicles will be outfitted with black 17-inch wheels with 225/45R17 tires, as well as a modest body kit and a red-and-white paint job with Carrera text covering the sides.

A leather steering wheel, upgraded shift knob, fire extinguisher under the passenger seat and two-tone red-and-black sport seats help polish off the interior of this popular work van. It comes with a price tag of approximately $34,565.

What this means to you: The Caddy Carrera Cup Edition is the first VW product to wear the hallowed Carrera badge since Porsche effectively took control of VW. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
