    Just the Facts:
    • Porsche will host the U.S. debut of the new 911 at the L.A. auto show, along with a "world premiere."
    • The new Porsche 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S go on sale in the U.S. in February.
    • The sixth-generation 991-series Porsche 911 will be sold in the U.S. as a 2012 model, replacing the current 997-series Porsche 911.

ATLANTA — Porsche will host the U.S. debut of the new sixth-generation 911 at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, along with an unspecified "world premiere."

In a telephone conversation Thursday with Inside Line, Porsche Cars North America spokesman Nick Twork declined to divulge any details on the "world premiere." A Porsche press release described the car as "a model boasting impressive performance and dynamic looks, exuding unadulterated driving pleasure."

Twork said the new 911 Carrera and 911 Carerra S will reach U.S. dealers in early February. The new 991-series models replace the outgoing 997-series models. Both series are being badged as 2012 models in the U.S., Twork said.

Eventually, all the various 997-series variants, including the 911 GTS, 911 Cabrio and 911 Turbo, will be replaced in the U.S. by 991-series variants, according to Twork, who declined to detail a timetable for their release.

Inside Line says: Don't be surprised to see Porsche follow a well-thumbed script in terms of rolling out new 911 variants over the next several years.

911 = expensive VW beetle . The year 2000 model head lamp looks much better, less beetle looking.

Nice to see a real Porsche like the 911, then the top heavy Cayenne that Americans go ga-ga about, maybe those myopic SUV buyers will get out of their boxes, and get a taste of real sports car performance in the 911.

@Timm2, just as a clarifier, I believe it says "along with an unspecified world premiere" Meaning they will be showing something other than the 911?

Another false report about 911. The 911 "world debut" was done in Frankfurt IIA, september of this year. There are Posche magasines already testing the car, it will be in dealers here February 2012.
