Porsche Now Selling RS Spyder Design Wheels

    1 Rating
STUTTGART, Germany — Porsche's aftermarket catalog now includes new 19-inch RS Spyder Design wheels with an innovative central locking mechanism.

Based on the design from the RS Spyder LMP2 racing car, the seven U-shaped double-spoke rollers have unique wheel bolts that fasten each 19-inch rim firmly to the wheel bearing. This security system is made from a cartridge attached in the wheel hub by spring-mounted security bolts.

On top of the added safety, the epoxy-plated titanium-colored central locking device will give a completely new look to the 911 Turbo.

The Porsche RS Spyder recently took home all titles in the American Le Mans Series and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans its first time around.

Starting this January in Europe, the sporty wheel will be available as an option exclusively on the 911 Turbo at a price equivalent to just under $3,800. Porsche hasn't given word yet on U.S. availability.

Inside Line says: The hefty price shouldn't discourage too many buyers, considering the added safety and style of these performance wheels. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
