2009 Porsche 911 Gets XM Satellite Radio and NavTraffic

WASHINGTON — XM Satellite Radio has been available as a factory-installed feature since 2005 in the Porsche Cayenne, and it will now be expanded to the Porsche 911 sports-car lineup for all 2009 models.

On top of the new seven-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox and direct-injection engine, the 2009 911 will be XM-ready with more than 170 channels of sports, music, news, entertainment and talk stations. Any customer who purchases a new Porsche will get a complimentary three-month trial subscription to the service.

In addition to XM Radio, the 911 will offer NavTraffic, which is a digital traffic service that gives real-time coast-to-coast traffic and incident updates.

Renewing the subscription will run you an extra $12.95 a month after the trial period expires.

What this means to you: The addition of XM radio, as well as a few more ponies, is a nice touch for the 911 in 2009. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
