So the company created the BTR-XL 600, shorthand for Bi-Turbo Racer — Extra Large with 600 Horsepower.
With upgraded VGT turbochargers and other engine mods, SpeedART squeezes 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from the Porsche flat-six. That's good enough to propel this open-air rocket from rest to 60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds. Velocity peaks at 202 mph.
SpeedART has added a new front bumper with chin spoiler, side skirts, adjustable rear wing and diffuser to help smooth airflow.
The three-piece RSC 20-inch wheels are shod with serious rubber — 245/30ZR-20s in front and 325/25ZR-20s in the rear — and can be ordered in the Elegance Black or Cross Racing White editions.
SpeedART has also fitted an adjustable sport suspension, beefed up the brakes and added a high-performance exhaust system with sport headers and catalysts, sound switch and black tailpipes.
Inside, the cockpit gets a SpeedART sport steering wheel and floormats, as well as carbon-fiber trim and accents.
What this means to you: We're still not sure why anyone would want to tamper with a 997 Turbo, but in this case, we're glad they did. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
