    What Is It?
    2004 Porsche 911 C4S Cabriolet

    What's Special About It?
To the uninitiated, the C4S is essentially a Turbo without the turbo. It carries the same wide body styling (sans side scoops), all-wheel drive, more powerful brakes and larger wheels and tires of the Turbo, but instead of 415 horsepower it makes do with "only" 320 horses. For 2004, Porsche has broadened the C4 lineup with this new cabriolet version that offers a fully automatic top that raises and lowers in just 20 seconds in addition to all the standard features found on the C4S coupe. Additional structural bracing ensures that the cabrio retains a level of body stiffness nearly equal to its coupe counterpart.

    Why Should You Care?
If you're sensible enough to know that you don't really need the 415 horsepower of the Turbo, but, like us, you crave the more distinctive bodywork and additional stopping power of the top model, this could be the most sensible and appealing alternative yet. — Ed Hellwig
