    What Is It?
    2003 Porsche 911 40th Anniversary

    What's Special About It?
In order to commemorate the 911's illustrious 40-year production run, Porsche figured it was only fitting to unveil the anniversary edition at the same show that hosted the 911's original debut back in 1963. This limited-run (1,963 to be exact) model is distinguished by its silver metallic paint that it shares only with the exotic GT model as well as unique 18-inch wheels, extended sill trim, turbo-style front air inlets and polished tailpipes. It also features a 345-horsepower version of the standard model's 3.6-liter flat six along with more aggressive suspension settings and a standard locking rear differential. The interior comes in gray leather only with heated sport seats, silver metallic trim, aluminum finish instrument dial rings and the obligatory "40th Anniversary" plaque. Sales of this one-of-a-kind model start this November at a cost of $89,800.

    Why Should You Care?
If you're one of the thousands of car enthusiasts who worships in the house of Porsche, this special-edition model will give you yet another method by which you can prove your devotion. If you happen to fall in one of the other enthusiast camps, this car constitutes just one more version of the 911 that you'll never have. — Ed Hellwig
