Pontiac Builds Buzz for New Solstice

    0 Ratings
DETROIT — The Pontiac Solstice will star on the popular TV show The Apprentice on Thursday, as contestants try to come up with the best promotional brochure for the new two-seat convertible. At the same time, General Motors said it is planning a hardtop coupe version of the car that will be raced in Sports Car Club of America events. The derivative is expected to debut next year.

The two Solstice developments are part of the automaker's strategy to build early buzz for the new rear-drive Pontiac.

Mark Reuss, executive director of GM's Performance Division, showed a picture of a hardtop Solstice this week during a speech at the Society of Automotive Engineers 2005 conference here. He said he envisions the hardtop competing for the title in the Stock B-Class competition against the Mazda Miata or in the Grand Am Cup ST-Class racing circuit against the BMW 330 and Mazda RX-8.

The 2006 Pontiac Solstice will hit the market this fall.

What this means to you: Who cares if one of Trump's lackeys likes the Solstice, the fact that there's a hardtop version on the way is the real news here.
