    What Is It?
    Pontiac GTO Autocross Concept

    What's Special About It?
The GTO hasn't even hit the streets yet and GM is already giving enthusiasts ideas on how to make it even better. The GTO Autocross incorporates some engine mods and a slew of GM Performance Parts to create an even more agile coupe that could show its competition a thing or two about what it means to go fast through the cones. The standard 5.7-liter V8 remains under the hood but a new camshaft and LS6 heads boost its production to 400 horsepower. For added grip there's a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich G-force tires while custom rotors and calipers provide added stopping power. To get the look of a hunkered-down corner carver, the GTO Autocross wears enhanced front and rear fascias, extended side skirts and a symmetrical dual exhaust system. Although the interior looks as though it was given the aftermarket treatment, everything from the machine-drilled pedals to the heavily bolstered sport seats are all stock components.

    Why Should You Care?
If you like this concept, there's not much standing in the way of building your own version. All the exterior appearance parts will be available through Pontiac dealerships by next fall and there's little doubt that aftermarket companies will be hitting full force with plenty of upgrade parts of their own for this reincarnation of a legend. — Ed Hellwig
