    What is it?
    Pontiac Grand Prix GP40

    What's special about it?
The GP40 is essentially a 40th anniversary Grand Prix loaded with additional parts available through the official GM Accessories catalog. The standard 40th anniversary car adds unique front and rear spoilers, dual exhaust, special wheels and two-tone Dark Cherry paint.

The GP40 builds on the anniversary car by adding a vehicle-lowering package that consists of front and rear adjustable springs, adjustable front and rear dampers and 17-inch Z-rated tires on forged aluminum wheels. High-performance brake pads along with drilled and slotted rotors further enhance the GP40's performance abilities.

Under the hood, an after-cat exhaust system and a low-restriction muffler help the already supercharged 3800 V6 achieve maximum performance.

    Why should you care?
While the anniversary edition Grand Prix is likely to appeal mostly to the hard-core Pontiac enthusiast, the fact that GM makes a vast array of performance accessories for the supercharged Grand Prix is a promising sign. This high-powered sport coupe is often overlooked despite its healthy 240 horsepower and capable chassis. Now if they would only offer a manual transmission as part of the package, they would really be on to something. —Ed Hellwig
