Pontiac Aztek SRV
What's special about it?
This new Aztek concept not only shows off a wide array of outdoor-oriented aftermarket gear, it is one of the first public displays of the revisions applied to the 2002 Aztek in an attempt to soften the poorly received styling of last year's model.
Most of the plastic body cladding has been removed from the exterior giving this year's Aztek a much cleaner overall look. Larger wheels and tires help fill out the wheelwells better than before, further contributing to the Aztek's improved appearance.
Like Nissan's similarly outdoor-themed Xterra, the Aztek SRV (Sport Rally Vehicle) features an interior bike rack and a roof-mounted cargo rack. Skid plates protect both the front fascia and sides of the vehicle while integrated front driving lights should help drivers avoid hitting anything in the first place. A floodlight has also been mounted on the liftgate for loading and unloading gear at night.
Why should you care?
Unless you're one of the few who liked last year's model, this new version should hold little interest. Adding items that the Xterra introduced more than two years ago isn't exactly what we call innovative, and removing the body cladding only serves to remind everybody just how awful the Aztek is underneath.
