PARIS — Peugeot will put its two-plus-two 308RCZ concept into production next spring. The automaker said the concept, which was unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, "left no one indifferent" and called the decision to produce it self-evident.
The car will be called simply the RCZ — the first Peugeot to be released without a numerical component to its name. It's expected to be a strong competitor to the Audi TT with a similar size — and projected price, which media are speculating will be in the mid-$30s like the TT. Engines, as with the TT, are expected to include 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter choices.
Boasting of a remarkably short turnaround time, Peugeot promises to unveil the RCZ in production guise at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in September and to put it on sale in the spring of 2010.
Inside Line says: The Frankfurt show is just two months away, so expect to see even more interesting cars as the show nears. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
