LE MANS, France — Entrepreneur Don Panoz, founder of the American Le Mans Series, has unveiled his latest automotive creation, a limited-edition 600-horsepower exotic car called the Abruzzi Spirit of Le Mans. The first of a limited run of 81 cars is slated to be delivered in 2013.
Panoz has released few details on the swoopy coupe, which features a composite body and an unspecified front-mounted engine that is said to produce 590 pound-feet of torque, delivered to a rear-mounted transaxle.
The cars will be produced by Panoz Auto Development, which is based in Hoschton, Georgia, and will be delivered to customers at Le Mans.
Panoz said the hand-built cars will be street legal "in Europe and many countries of Asia, the Middle East and South America" but did not specify whether they will be homologated for sale in the U.S.
Inside Line says: The car appears to be named for Panoz's father's hometown in the Abruzzi region of Italy. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

charlesb:
Not so vaguely, just paint it black, add some graphics, and you have a new Batmobile.
May be we need to add some tailfins......but it is perfect for a new Batman movie.

It looks good from the top, and rear, but that front view looks really mis-proportioned. I guess I'll just wait till I see one in person to decide if I want to buy...

The front looks vaguely inspired by Adam West's favorite black car.
