    What is it?
    2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

    What's special about it?
The Aurora will be totally redesigned for the 2001 model year. It's 6 inches shorter than the previous model, but it offers more interior room. With a tighter body structure and suspension system, the Aurora should offer improved responsiveness and a more sporty nature. Two engines will be offered: a 4.0-liter V8 or a 3.5-liter V6. Curb weight is down, with the 4.0 Aurora 165 pounds less than the previous generation and the 3.5 Aurora 285 pounds less.

    Why should you care?
The original Aurora (debuting in 1994) wasn't perfect, but it embodied change and revitalization for Oldsmobile. GM's new G-platform (which the Aurora is based on) has proven to be a significant improvement for other new GM cars that are based on it. The 2001 Aurora could finally be a real player in the full-size sedan market.
