2009 Nissan Xterra Is Launched With Technology Package Deal

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The 2009 Nissan Xterra gets a minor makeover, but the bigger news for consumers is that for a limited time at the start of launch, the optional technology package will be offered at no charge with the X, Off-Road or SE models. The 2009 Xterra goes on sale in mid-July; pricing will be announced in late June.

The contents of the technology package include an advanced Rockford Fosgate audio system, XM Satellite Radio with automatic transmission models only, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, steering wheel audio controls and an auxiliary input jack. The package is not available on the base X model.

Nissan says that the 2009 Xterra gets a redesigned front end look, new roof-mounted off-road lights for the Off-Road model, new wheel designs, new seat materials and colors and standard side curtain airbags.

The 2009 Xterra gets the carryover 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine that makes 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic.

What this means to you: Sounds like the start of launch is a good time to buy your '09 Xterra, especially if you want the no-charge high-tech items. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
