I have a 2006 Xterra, off road 6 speed manual...ie got 50,000 miles on it, its a new clutch and clutch assembly, i believe, this will be my 4th, or possibly even my 5th clutch- what gives? apparently there was a defect in the original clutch, it was replaced, apparently incorrectly, 5,000 miles later i need another clutch, the last clutch which operated perfectly for 37,000 miles.... and just conked out completely as i was driving. Apparently i need a new clutch, and i believe a clutch assembly, a 1900$ repair. While my clutch was perfect the majority of the time, these problems continue to occur. Someone mentioned that the clutch is still the same as th first gen trucks, designed to operate a 165HP vehicle. the 2006 is 265...and has so much torque it shreds the clutchs?. Also Im pretty sure that im not destroying these clutchs with my driving. I have all the warranties under the sun, through 2012. However, The clutch is a wear item, not covered. Nissan replaced the first two clutchs free of charge. But i got screwed on the last one because there was mud all over the truck, from a large puddle i drove through, the nissan rep determined the truck was taken off-road and abused and thus i was responsible for the clutch. Mind you the door of my vehicle says "Off-Road" and its runnin on a Bilsteen suspention, It was a decision made behind closed doors and i got stuck with the bill, tried to appeal and got nowhere. Im pretty sure there is a problem with the clutch in the majority of the 6 speeds....seems like evryone else with one is having major problems as well. Any Info or Feedback would be greatly appreciated! ~James.
