FRANKLIN, Tennessee — The base 2012 Nissan Versa 1.8 S hatchback starts at $15,140, including a $760 destination charge, undercutting one of its chief competitors, the 2012 Ford Fiesta hatchback. Nissan held prices on the base and mid-level 2012 Versa hatchback, but the top-of-the-line 2012 Nissan Versa 1.8 SL gets a price increase of $980 over the 2011 model, according to a Monday pricing announcement.

The 2012 Versa hatchback is a carry-over model. The 2012 Nissan Versa sedan, which goes on sale in August, is a redesign.
The 2012 Versa hatchback is equipped with a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Nissan Versa 1.8 SL gets a CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Changes for the 2012 Versa hatchback include the addition of new standard content, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth, Nissan Intelligent Key and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Stability control is now standard on all versions of the hatchback. A rear roof spoiler adds $260 to the bottom line, while a navigation package adds $700.

So the 2013 or 2012.5 Versa Hatch is gonna be the sweet looking 2 door hot-hatch concept that the versa was originally based on, right?!

Why carry over the old one? Stupid!!! The big three of Japan don't seem to be doing anything well these days....sad!

I hope the all new hatchback looks better than the all new sedan when it finally debuts. The Versa sedan looks like the previous generation corolla up front and an Elantra from 2 generations ago from the back crossed with one of the ill fated american daewoos (can't remeber the names,) and the interior looks much cheaper in the pics than the original Versas interior, like its center stack comes from an Echo which is a shame since the interior was clearly its best feature, especially the huge legroom in the back.
