    2004 Nissan Quest - Front

With its arched roofline and sporty front end, the new Quest actually looks pretty cool for a minivan. Sure, we were hoping for something closer to last year's Quest concept, but minivan buyers are easy to alienate. | September 15, 2009

    What's Special About It?
Nissan's Quest minivan is the only Nissan not on par with other Nissan products. The current Quest simply has little or nothing to offer a family shopping for a small minivan. The 2004 Quest, however, is an admirable attempt on Nissan's part to incorporate the "cool" factor that is so obvious in every other Nissan product. In only a few short years, Nissan essentially reinvented itself, and redesigning the Quest was one of the last pieces in that puzzle.

Based on the proven Altima platform, the Quest could prove to be fun to drive as it utilizes independent suspension and a 230-horsepower V6. The new Quest is larger than the previous version in almost every dimension. A longer wheelbase allows for sliding doors to open wider than others in its class, and the interior boasts fold-flat second- and third-row seats. A new Skyview roof section gives the interior a bright feel and lacks the "dark cave" feel found on some minivans.

    Why Should You Care?
While more conservative than the Quest concept Nissan showed last year, the new Quest is a needed replacement and a huge improvement. If the new Quest offers even a fraction of the fun, style and performance found in Nissan's cars, it will be a success. — Brian Moody
