ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Now entering its seventh generation, the redesigned Nissan Patrol employs all-new sheet metal, a new platform, a completely revised interior and a new powertrain. Sold primarily in overseas markets, including Europe and the Middle East, the full-size Patrol will share its underpinnings with the redesigned 2011 Infiniti QX that debuts in late March at the 2010 New York Auto Show.
With a rich history that dates back more than half a century, the latest incarnation of Nissan's big SUV now features a new 5.6-liter direct-injection gasoline V8 rated at 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, coupled with a new seven-speed automatic transmission.
A new electronic four-wheel-drive system can switch at the touch of a button among four different driving modes. The new Patrol also incorporates Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
A new fully independent suspension system has been fitted in place of the previous rigid-axle configuration, and brakes and steering have been revised and upgraded.
The cabin of the new Patrol is roomier than that of its predecessor, with bigger front seats and more space for second- and third-row passengers. The cockpit is trimmed in leather, wood and polished aluminum and includes such new features as a multiscreen DVD entertainment system and a center-console cool box.

This looks like a nice ride and decent effort by Nissan. Unfortunately, it is just not right for the times when people look to be downsizing (The UAE, sure, cheap oil but the EU? not convinced..)
The Range-Roverish side vent comes off a bit unoriginal tho.. Still, I sure it will appeal to its target market but I'm not feelin' the styling personally..

I thought Nissan was dropping the Armada altogether and only offer it as the Infiniti QX56...

Looks like that power train can go to the future Titan truck too. As for Diesels they do have some nice 6cyl. TDI's

I hope that his comes to the U.S. as the new armada. I happen to like the current Armada. But I personally don't care for diesel; I'd like to see the DOHC 5.6 V8 return.

I'd like to see Nissan put more diesel engines in their products.

This would have to also be a Armada, since it is the obvious underpinnings to the QX56.

This is a massive improvement over the previous models, although it's very "Land Cruiser like" it's still very appealing. Hopefully they'll offer it in America with a diesel engine and hopefully far less than the grossly overpriced Land Cruiser. It's also great to see Nissan stepping up in the quality and design dept.
