FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Two new teaser videos of the redesigned 2013 Nissan Pathfinder provide brief glimpses of the truck's front- and rear-end styling.
Nissan earlier released a teaser photo of the truck's side profile. A concept version of the new Pathfinder will be revealed next week at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and the production model should begin reaching U.S. dealers this fall.
Nissan says the new model "takes all of Pathfinder's traditional SUV hallmarks and wraps them in a new platform and dramatic new aerodynamic body."
The 2013 Pathfinder will seat up to seven, with "ample cargo room," according to Nissan.
The current Pathfinder went on sale in model year 2005. By the time the fourth-generation model arrives next fall at U.S. dealers, the current design will have been in production for eight years.
Inside Line says: Looks like the new Pathfinder won't stray far from Nissan's current design language.

It's true Pathfinders are'nt driven off road like they used to be, I don't see many with mud on them, that seems to be reserved for the Xterra. I also agree that the Pathfinder has taken the place of the minivan, hopefully the new Pathfinder will have plenty of leg room for the 2nd and 3rd row seats that the current model is lacking.

I hope the pathfinder doesn't stray too far from it's current, fairly capable off-road design.
We have a small place in Utah, and early in 2010 wanted to get a 4X4 midsize SUV that had a low range 4WD option and 3 rows of seats. At the time we narrowed our choices to the LR3, Pathfinder, and Jeep Commander. Everything else was too big, too small, or part time AWD based on a crossover chassis.
We ended up with a 2008 used Pathfinder 4X4, and it's been a great vehicle so far. We don't do any serious rock crawling, but I'd add a locking rear diff if we did. Air bags in the rear springs have really taken the sag and sway out of the rear suspension, and it handles and rides with much more confidence.
There are fewer and fewer choices for people who actually use these vehicles for their intended purpose, rather than minivan replacements.

The Pathfinder is taking a different route than the Xterra and the Frontier for the better.
I totally agree. I have had two Pathfinders, a 1994 and a 2000. We have since sold the 1995.5 but gave 1994 to my wife's parents! That thing is is still running! (I wish we still kept it!) They were great trucks but you could see then and now that a change needed to happen. Since most Pathfinder buyers tended to NOT go off road and demanded more luxury items in their trucks; while the Xterra/Frontier folks tended to go off road or used these vehicles in a sport or work capacity. This was the best solution for that problem and to hopefully get more in sales for the Pathfinder. At first I thought "Why make this into a crossover on a car platform (Nissan D platform)?" Then I realized this was an obvious but smart move for Nissan. I think this new Pathfinder will be a hit.

Nice face. I can't really judge the back end but it's probably gonna look good. The Problem with the new Explorer is that the Front end ain't really doing any justice to the back.
The Ford's gonna age well though. Nissan SUVs tend not to do so.

The explorer is having great success moving from SUV to Crossover, part of their success it is that is the Crossover with the most SUV style in its class. From what I see Nissan is repeating the same formula. It would make a lot of sense to borrow the architecture of the JX with a more boxy/SUV style to appeal young audiences and have an affordable 7 passenger car in a segment that NISSAN has never been a player.
Would be interesting to see their engine lineup, if they keep the weight low even a 4 cylinder from the Altima would work on an entry level version which is nothing great but if the price is a little bit under 30k would be great. Diesel and or a turbo charged would be ideal but it may take a couple of years, the VQ is a proven formula and will make a top of the line a competitive player in the segment.
I am a Nissan fan and I hope they get it right with this one so they can regain a corporate identity and redesign the Armada too, then have more off road capable Xterra, and finally fix the Murano and the Juke

I also doubt we'll get diesel Xterras/Pathfinders. Frontier...... Maybe but thats a long shot. Keep in mind, the Titan will also need a redesign. Its practically been the same thing for 8 years so far (talk about a great first impression).

The Pathfinder is taking a different route than the Xterra and the Frontier for the better. I have an Xterra and my good friend has a Pathfinder. I personally feel that the Pathfinder feels much clumsier than the Xterra and the people who never go offroad think the same which is why a crossover version of the Pathfinder would sell much better today.
The Frontier and Xterra will most likely continue to be produced in the future. A redesign for the two will happen in maybe 2014 and they will continue to be related as they historically have been.

I hope it has a somewhat masculine look since it's a crossover.. :/

and also...the answer to your 3rd question is that i have the feeling that the frontier will be discontinued or heavenly redesigned not on the pathfinder...and if it is discontinued then i believe that i will not get a replacement...but i could be wrong
