- At the upcoming Detroit auto show, Nissan will unveil a concept version of the 2013 Pathfinder.
- The redesigned Pathfinder goes on sale next fall in the U.S.
- Nissan also plans to reveal an electric van concept at the Detroit show.
DETROIT — The redesigned 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will be previewed in concept form in early January at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Nissan also plans to unveil an electric van concept.
Nissan said the Pathfinder Concept will provide "a sneak peek at the next generation" of the automaker's long-running midsize utility vehicle.
The current Pathfinder went on sale in model year 2005. By the time the fourth-generation model arrives next fall at U.S. dealers, the current design will have been in production for eight years.
Nissan said the electric van concept "previews a future production version of a full electric vehicle designed to provide businesses or families with flexible, roomy cargo space."
Inside Line says: Considering how many of its competitors are being phased out of production, one must wonder how much longer the Pathfinder can soldier on in a dwindling market segment.
