"The 2009 Maxima has been increased by about 1 percent versus the 2008 model, but the amount of content and all-around package has significantly been increased in the all-new model," said Tim Gallagher, senior manger for corporate communications at Nissan North America. "The base 2009 Maxima 3.5 S offers more standard equipment than its predecessor, coming in at $400 less than a comparably equipped 2008 3.5 SE."
On sale at dealerships now, the seventh-generation Maxima comes standard with a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 mated to a continuously variable transmission. The 2008 Maxima was rated at 255 hp. Fuel economy has also been bumped slightly from 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway to 19/26 mpg.
Several new option packages are available for the 3.5SV, including the Sport Package ($2,300) with sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, premium leather-appointed seats and paddle shifters; and the Premium Package ($3,450) with a dual panel moonroof, 7-inch color monitor with rearview monitor, and Eucalyptus wood-tone trim.
The 2009 Nissan Maxima goes on sale today.
