What is it?
2007 Nissan Maxima
What's special about it?
On display at the New York auto show, the Nissan Maxima is treated to a refresh for 2007. The sixth generation of Nissan's largest sedan gets a slightly revamped exterior, a refined interior and no major changes to its mechanics.
A new front grille combines with a revised hood, headlights and front bumper to alter the Maxima's nose, while a more prominent rear spoiler, revised rear bumpers and side sills complete the new look. Redesigned 17-inch wheels are standard, while a very cool set of 18-inch seven-spoke wheels are on the options sheet.
Inside the Maxima, the upgraded interior offers a redesigned center stack with improved control ergonomics and a new gauge display that's easier to read. Seats have larger shoulder bolsters with a redesigned sliding center armrest to increase passenger comfort. Perforated leather is now optional on SE models. Accent trim includes real aluminum, and the center console box has been improved.
Like the all-new Nissan Altima, the 2007 Maxima receives an Intelligent Key push-button start and a reverse sensor with audible warning is available. It also gets a stereo upgrade with an auxiliary AV input jack. An automatic CD changer with MP3 Bluetooth and a DVD-based navigation system with a 7-inch color display are options.
Mechanical changes are limited to a standard Continuously Variable Transmission, mated to the only engine choice, a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 255 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque.
Expect the 2007 Nissan Maxima to hit showrooms in early summer 2006.
What's Edmunds' take?
There's no increase in power, but the substantially upgraded interior keeps us from whining about the carry-over specs. — Kelly Toepke
