TOKYO — Nissan will publicly unveil its latest China-market model, the Livina C-Gear, at the upcoming 2008 Beijing Auto Show. The new model will be sold in some markets, including Indonesia, as the X-Gear.

The C-Gear is a sporty edition of the Livina hatchback (not to be confused with the Livina Geniss minivan), powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, with a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. It will be assembled at Nissan's joint-venture plant with Dongfeng in Huadu, Guangdong province.

Nissan said the Livina models have tallied more than 70,000 sales since their debut in late 2006. The carmaker wants to boost sales of the series to more than 200,000 units a year, primarily in China.
