PARIS — Both Sumo Power GT and Swiss Racing Team decided to show off final versions of their FIA GT1-spec Nissan GT-R racing cars at a press conference at the Automobile Club de France. The conference was held to launch the new-for-2010 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Each squad has already conducted rigorous pre-season testing, with Sumo Power GT attending the FIA official test at the Circuit Paul Ricard in France and also undergoing a private test run in Spain. Swiss Racing team has followed suit and gone to two FIA official tests, at Paul Ricard and the Algarve circuit in Portugal. Peter Dumbreck from Scotland and Michael Krumm from Germany will pilot the number 23 Sumo Power GT entry, while Karl Wendlinger of Austria will man the Swiss Racing Team number 3 vehicle.

"I have been racing in the FIA GT Championship for many years, but now I'm very excited about the new world championship — and very happy to be driving the Nissan GT-R," said Swiss Racing Team driver Karl Wendlinger.

The teams each have one other GT-R that will be racing in the series that have yet to be presented in their final liveries. Drivers for those vehicles, the No. 22 Sumo Power GT and the No. 4 Swiss Racing Team, are set to be announced soon.

The season opener of the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship is in Abu Dhabi, at the Yas Marina circuit, on April 17.

Inside Line says: Expect to see final versions of the other FIA GT1 entries soon as we approach the kickoff of this series. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
