AMS Performance Nissan GT-R Produces Insane 1,309 Horsepower

    Just the Facts:
    • AMS Performance has released a video showing its latest modified Nissan GT-R laying down 1,309 horsepower and 1,014 pound-feet of torque.
    • It runs the quarter-mile in 9.05 seconds at 166.66 mph.
    • The tuner was running 35 psi of boost for the tests and experienced poor 90-degree track conditions.

CHICAGO — American tuner AMS Performance has taken the Nissan GT-R to a whole new level with its Alpha 12 creation. We're talking 1,309 horsepower sent to four wheels and a 9-second quarter-mile — a level not usually reached by a GT-R.

AMS already has its Alpha 6, 9 and 10 performance packages, and now it has released an even more extreme kit it calls the Alpha 12. The company has not detailed the newest package yet, but for reference check out the specifics on the $63,995 Alpha 10 here. Its features include a revamped turbo system, new engine internals, exhaust and obviously a recalibrated ECU.

The video shows the AMS Alpha 12 shattering Nissan GT-R horsepower, quarter-mile time and 60-130 mph acceleration records. AMS sets the scene by strapping the modified "Godzilla" on the dyno and having it lay down 1,309 hp and 1,014 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels.

It then moves to the drag strip, where, on its fifth run, the sports car covers the quarter-mile in 9.05 seconds at nearly 167 mph and sprints from 60-130 mph in just 3.46 seconds. The car was supposedly running 35 psi of boost, featured massive wheelspin all the way through 4th gear and had poor 90-degree weather on the day of testing.

Stay tuned for details on this Nissan beast as more information is available.

Inside Line says: A wicked machine that will probably shatter its own records with optimal track conditions and more tuning.

GT-R AMS Alpha 12 now did it in 8.97 sec @ 169.49 mph. World Record and 1st under 9 sec.

I guess Hennesey and Lingenfelter and scratching their heads. Will they join the 8 sec club?

ZR1 is missing, maybe they didn't find tyres for airport tarmac. Lamborghini and Aston Martin refused to join, too much dust. Evora S was the last, I knew it. The Italia almost makes it, was the fastest at the line.

@zr1man. Its not a daily driver. The car traps 166mph in the 1/4 mile. There isn't a car on the planet that would get that trap speed and get good gas mileage or be considered a daily driver. Hating just to hate is stupid.

I am sure this will be a great daily driver and get wonderful gas mileage. Not!

This car is not a daily driver genius. That is not the point. A ZR1 guy who doesn't appreciate massive horsepower. An oxymoron really.

And I am not proud that you are an American. Leave.

It would be pretty unreal to own one of these cars.

The car has already made some more power on the dyno. Up to 1356 awhp.  They are getting really close to the 8 second barrier. Along with AMS, there are several other companies working on reaching the 8's.

I don't know if that's fast for 1,300 HP.  It's fast, amazingly so, but there is nothing to compare it with.  Apart from a Nissan Versa!
