    Just the Facts:
    • The latest edition of Nissan's GT-R supercar, on sale later this month in Japan, gets more power and torque for model year 2013.
    • A new "For Track Pack" performance option replaces the Spec V in Japan.
    • Prices in Japan range from $111,400 to $192,100.

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Nissan has coaxed more power and torque from the latest edition of its GT-R supercar, which goes on sale November 24 in Japan and heads to export markets, including the U.S., in early 2012.

The new GT-R will be sold in the U.S. beginning in January as a 2013 model, a Nissan North America spokesperson told Inside Line on Monday. The U.S. range will consist of only two models — the 2013 GT-R Premium and the GT-R Black Edition, which gets black Rays forged-alloy wheels, Recaro leather seats and a dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler.

Nissan has upgraded the GT-R's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, which in U.S. spec is rated at 545 horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy has been modestly improved, to 20 mpg on Japan's 10-15 mode cycle.

Prices in Japan range from $111,400 for the basic GT-R Pure Edition to $192,100 for the range-topping GT-R Egoist. JDM models also include the GT-R Black Edition and GT-R Premium Edition.

While the GT-R Spec V has been phased out, Nissan is offering Japanese customers a new For Track Package performance package, which the automaker says "inherits the driving DNA of the Spec V model to provide an alternative, more spartan driving option for potential customers."

Developed jointly with Japanese tuner NordRing and offered on the GT-R Pure Edition, the For Track Pack option comes with uprated suspension, front splitter, Rays alloy wheels coated in black quartz chrome, and a pair of sport seats trimmed in leather and high-grip fabric.

Among the rather modest hardware changes for Japan, the latest GT-R offers Nissan carbon-ceramic brakes as a factory-installed option on the GT-R Egoist and Premium Edition.

In the U.S., Nissan has added a rearview monitor, navigation and Bluetooth as standard equipment on both GT-R models.

Inside Line says: GT-R fans will welcome the additional power.

I love this car ;-D This new version akes me want it even more!!! This is the baddest most popular supercar ever. A car like this will be more affordable in the later years. Can't wait.

And as for Infiniti Performance Line (IPL). It seems really unnecessary. Infiniti's already made by Nissan, So they might as well just stick with NISMO.

This would be news if it was titled:

"Much Less Powerful 2013 Nissan GT-R Arrives in the U.S. in January, Slow as Hell, but 3000 MPG!"

I love how this car is still very uncommon. It's not beautiful, it's not sexy, and it definitely doesn't have the prestige a lot of higher end cars wear....but it's raw, and honest, and these are cars people aren't afraid to approach at a gas station...at least I'm that way. I see a lot of guys in suits drive Porshes, and BMW's and I have to wear dress shoes and pants to work, but I'd love to have this car, change into regular clothes and go on a road trip

The thing I like about the GT-R is that has lots of space.  You have more room than the Z370 and other sport cars.  Like Mizuno stated: is a car that you can go buy groceries and if you need to drive it to 155 MPh will do it without any problem and you will feel comfortable.  Nissan keeps making it more powerful, better handling & better fuel economy.

Sure, the GT-R doesn't have the "brand look" of a Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari.  I bet you get more looks driving an old Ferrari 308 or a Porsche 911 even an old 1970's Vette than a GT-R.  In that respect I agree.

    Have anice Day!

LOL "That front bumper reminds me of the previous gen eclipse, and not in a good way.  Or maybe a Pontiac Grand Am or something."
....... that is really truth the front looks more and more like and Eclipse

C'mon what we really need is this engine on a Infinity Coupe and Infinity M to be a BMW M3 or and M5 killer. Someone in the market for a Porsche will not even consider a GT-R in the equation. However someone looking for an M5 definitely will take a look at an Infinity M if it offers more power and same or better handling. Currently and M37 is better car than a 528.

The IPL line is a joke is not even close to Lexus LF series, M AMG even Jaguar.

This Nissan engine will make almost any Infinity to top its class.

@speedrcr- You laugh, but the GTR has reached 198 MPH with the current edition, and is only one of a few that can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds. The GTR also does not cost you 7 figures.

The 2013 has already been clocked at 2.7 seconds 0-60 in test runs. Check out Motortrend and Road and Track.

I agree the design isn't for everyone, but neither is a Porsche. I'll take Godzilla any day.

LOL!...why don't we wait until it can pass the 200 mph barrier first before we start entertaining any such idea.

"Sweet?" What's "sweet" about a pirana on wheels? This car is bad to the bone - not "sweet."
