    • The 2013 Nissan GT-R Black Edition starts at $107,320, reflecting an $11,220 price hike.
    • The 2013 GT-R gets a horsepower boost and the Black Edition gets a new dry carbon fiber rear spoiler.

FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Buyers shopping for the 2013 Nissan GT-R, which goes on sale today, should brace for some major sticker shock.

The base 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium model starts at $97,820, reflecting a $6,870 increase over the outgoing model. The 2013 Nissan GT-R Black Edition starts at $107,320, reflecting an $11,220 price hike.

When Inside Line asked Nissan spokesman Steve Yaeger in a phone conversation on Friday whether buyers will be jolted by the new pricing, he replied: "(They) could, but with the market we're in, a little less so."

"In the class it operates in, it performs against cars that cost a lot more," Yaeger added.

He notes that the GT-R is significantly cheaper than the 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo, which starts at $138,450, including a $950 destination charge. The base 2013 GT-R is also $14,755 cheaper than the base 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which starts at $112,575, including a $975 destination charge.

Nissan says the average GT-R buyer has a household income of $200,000. Most GT-R buyers are married men ranging in age from 45-59.

A statement issued on Friday by Nissan describes the 2013 GT-R as "an incredible value."

The GT-R gets performance enhancements for the new model year, including a boost in horsepower from 530 to 545. The suspension has been retuned and the Black Edition gets a new dry carbon fiber spoiler. Nissan said the new spoiler is handmade in a limited production run. The car gets the carryover 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Nissan is targeting a global volume of about 10,000 GT-Rs for the 2013 model year. The U.S. is the largest market for the car. Nissan expects to sell about 1,500 GT-Rs here for the 2013 model year.

Six exterior colors are available for 2013: Deep Blue Pearl, Jet Black, Solid Red, Gun Metallic, Pearl White and a 4-stage metallic Super Silver.

Inside Line says: Nissan insists the GT-R is still a great value. Are they right?

I am located in Knoxville Tn and today ( first release date for the 2013 model) and I was able to get up close and personal with the black edition .. a man from the dealership was fueling it up for a customer who just bought it. and yes.... the sticker is every bit what it has been listed for .. $97,870.00 ..  I got pictures of it and a video of it leaving the station and all I can say is .. it truely is an orgasm on wheels ... simply beautiful ... and power like I've yet to see anyone match for a factory tuned V6. please feel free to friend me on Facebook and check out the video and picts I just posted .. facebook name is Jeremy Calnan ( from Knoxville TN ) .. the skyline will be my profile picture.. thanks again .... oh yeah and a little history I was informed of ... this customer who bought it ... this is his 3rd Skyline GTR ... the last one was for his 16 year old daughter to drive a car with power so she can be ready to driver her daddys Ferrari and Lambo.... it just sickens me to think of a 16 yr old girl behind this beast of a car . but if you gonna go .. go big right

Hoping to take delivery of our new 2013 by Feb 15, 2012.  Our 2009 has been VERY good to us.  Not sure if we will keep her and have 2 white GTRs or sell the 2009 but either way, I'm excited about the changes and upgrades and can hardly wait to sit on the sexy black and red leather and get the 2013 on the track and see how much faster she does the quarter mile.

zr1man was making a go at me and my post.  I know you already withdrew your statement, BUT your response was funny as heck!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program, I honestly cannot say that I do not agree with the current price tag!  This is one of my fears of price vs product for this car. Nissan pricing strategies have always been questionable to me.  I get the JPY to dollar relationship, but I don't have to like it! Nissan, Toyota and even Honda (in some cases) have all had to do this because of the JPY.
    :-(

Learn to spell. Existance is spelled existence.  Who's ignorant?

LOL, this guy is hilarious!!  Ok, ok +2 points for you.  No really; good job there "spell check guy!"

I wonder is that the best you can come up with?  One spelling error and that's what you came up with? No catchy clichés, no cynical comments, nothing worth mentioning there in your infinite wisdom box?  Well since you can spell, maybe you can articulate an opinion or a relative counterpoint to my verbal barrage on your previous post?

    @hooklyn says:
    Actually my completed statement was:

"The same type people who buy vettes, Porches, Audi's, Lambos and Ferrari's are the same type of people who will buy this car, or have already bought it. You like what you like, end of story.

Perhaps I should have written it like this:
"You like what you like. If you like this car and can get it great.  If you don't like it, then don't get it. Most enthusiasts of any car maker or type can come up with reasons to buy or not to buy what they want."

    @ carsgalore

"The same type people who buy vettes, Porches, Audi's, Lambos and Ferrari's are the same type of people who will buy this car, or have already bought it."

That is not true at all...  I posted these figures just earlier today...

I believe you misinterpeted my point. If you are going to quote someone, then quote the entire statement.  My POINT was certain people will buy this car, certain people will not buy this car, certain people will buy Lambos, certain people will not buy Lambos.  These are all people who choose what type of car they buuy based on their preference or liking, and other factors.  The point was people who beleive in a particulr car type will buy it.  Those that don't will not.

And first of all first gtr sold for 80k msrp I dunno where people are saying 63k I went to get one
And it was sold out for about a 8 months in NYC so please and in 2010 when they raised it to 85k no body complained and was sold out till sept 2010 even eBay didn't really have a lot of them then 2012 if no body knew it was 90-95k because they tweaked it and everyone sold their old ones to get this one people get what they like no matter the price jump
Now it's 97k oo well 2k more then last yr and look at the diff in 1 yr believe me u people are less then .001 percent of the market in USA I don't think Nissan will lose sleep they are sold out each yr and still need to make more to supply orders

Listen what up people say is all true but one thing you have to consider unless u go to the track their is no place to put full power down on these cars
Prices of super cars are insane but the gtr zr1 and 911 turbo are all fun in their own ways any it comes down to whoever wants what
You can't argue with someone who loves Porsche and say get a Nissan just like you can't tell some hey I know you love the gtr get a 911 instead so all this fighting is useless and all company's can do what they want with price because they know I'll pay for it if u want it if not go somewhere else
No one has a super car for less then the gtr so they will price it cheaper then the rest but more money then a evo or Shelby gt500 they can't put it for that low so for me 100k is reasonable for the technology and engineering that's involved if not get someone more or less but stop hating the car

zr1man - Is that the best you've got? You are calling me ignorant because of one spelling mistake? Does that mean when your kids make spelling mistakes at school they are ignorant too? What a sad Redneck loser you are. Stick to the GT-R based facts, there is no need to get personal. Now go and play with traffic you ignorant, narrow minded moron. Unbelievable.
