TOKYO — Yes, we know Nissan continues to trumpet the benefits of electric vehicles and green technology. Thank goodness the Japanese automaker still knows how to build fast — make that faster — cars, like the 2010 Nissan GT-R Nismo Club Sports.
The GT-R Club Sports is being launched next week at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon, the big annual tuner show hosted by the Nippon Auto Parts Aftermarket Committee (NAPAC).
Nissan's Nismo performance division will showcase a variety of products, but the GT-R Club Sports is expected to draw the most interest.
The package bundles the usual chassis upgrades, including a set of custom alloy rims. One unusual feature presumably aimed at club racers is the Nismo Data Logger Kit, which enables the owner to download track data to a laptop via an onboard USB connection.
Package prices start at $56,000.
Inside Line says: Nissan's press release helpfully informs us that the Nismo GT-R Club Sports will feature "a high level of sports performance." We can only hope. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
