    Nissan GT-R Concept - Front

No hard information was released about the GT-R concept, so your guess about the car's performance is just as good as ours. The shape of the black dome near the rear of the hood and the large air intake underneath the front Nissan badge suggest that the car will be turbocharged, likely using a version of the 2003 350Z's V6. | September 15, 2009

    What's special about it?
If you are familiar with Japanese sports cars, you have likely heard about the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Being Nissan's top road-going performance car, the GT-R's traditional calling cards have been all-wheel drive, a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine and massive amounts of technology. The latest generation of the Skyline recently went on sale in Japan, and the GT-R concept shown at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show was the first glimpse of what the next Skyline GT-R will be like. Unfortunately, Nissan was quite vague about the car. No specifications were given, and the official press release's eight paragraphs, when examined and boiled down, say very little.

    Why should you care?
Normally, this would have been another Japanese sports car introduction filed under "Cool Cars Not Sold in the United States." The Skyline GT-R has never been officially sold in the U.S. However, Nissan says it is "developing a new generation of GT-R for the 21st Century with the aim of placing it in the spotlight of the global stage, beyond the borders of the Japanese market." Does this mean the next Skyline GT-R will be coming stateside? We sure hope so. — Brent Romans
