TOKYO — Along with its Leaf EV and quirky Land Glider concept, Nissan will also be unveiling the new Fuga performance sedan at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show, a car that's essentially Japan's version of North America's new Infiniti M.

Japan's Fuga comes with 2.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6 engine choices, stands 195 inches end to end and has a definite Jaguar-style panache in the metal.

It also comes with an armory of advanced technology, including an Eco pedal, which pushes back on the throttle pedal to save you fuel. A Drive Mode Selector adjusts V6 engine response, transmission shift schedule and four-wheel active steering to give a sportier, more comfortable on-road feel.

The Fuga also introduces Nissan's first rear-drive hybrid system. With 3.5-liter V6, lithium-ion battery pack and Nissan's own one-motor/two-clutch rear-wheel-drive hybrid system, it is claimed to have the fuel mileage of a compact C-segment car.

The Fuga hybrid launches in Japan in fall 2010.

Inside Line says: The new Infiniti M's look was well received in the U.S. this summer, and it should be an equally agreeable sight on the show floor in Tokyo. — Peter Nunn, Correspondent
