2005 Nissan Frontier
What's Special About It?
Bigger, more powerful and bulging with muscular new lines, the 2005 Frontier now sports the big truck swagger of the Titan full-size. Its grille is nearly identical to the bigger truck while its exaggerated fender flares give it even more curves at each corner. In addition to their similar styling, the Frontier gets a modified version of the Titan's fully boxed frame along with an available off-road package and high-performance shocks.
In a sign that Nissan is serious about dominating the compact truck market, the Frontier's top engine will be a 4.0-liter V6 with 250-plus horsepower and over 270 pound-feet of torque. With that kind of power on board, the Frontier will boast a maximum tow rating of over 5,500 pounds, according to Nissan. It will also offer a spray-in bedliner straight from the factory as well as adjustable utility hooks and a locking rear differential. The cabin is substantially larger than the previous model with reconfigurable rear seats and both King and Crew Cab models.
What's Edmunds' Take?
With a tough new look, innovative features and at least 250 maximum horsepower under the hood, this Frontier won't be taking a backseat to anything in the compact truck category. Ed Hellwig
