While releasing few details about the vehicle, which was created at Nissan Design America, the automaker described the Forum as an "exploration of the next generation of family transportation." It said the highly styled MPV features trackless sliding doors and no B-pillars.
The current Quest minivan, which has been a slow seller for Nissan, is scheduled to be phased out of production after the 2009 model year. The Forum could provide some broad hints as to the design direction of a successor model.
What this means to you: Despite the brand's reputation for design leadership, the Quest was perhaps overstyled for its conservative mom-and-pop (mostly mom) audience. Will Nissan's next-gen MPG suffer the same fate?
