    What's Special About It?

The creative energy at Nissan Design America's new studio in Farmington Hills, Mich., has been harnessed in the form of the Nissan Azeal concept sport coupe. Coated in Liquid Titanium metallic paint, the Azeal appears to be dripping wet, from its wide fender flares to the sharply sloped rear roofline. Prism-like foglights with brake cooling ducts, dual exhaust pipes, a wide rear spoiler and unique 19-inch machined and painted aluminum-alloy wheels round out the Azeal's small, but shapely exterior.

A striking interior complete with Wasabi Chartreuse-colored fabric seats sits beneath a glass-panel roof outfitted with built-in clips for mounting roof rails. Seating is arranged 2+2 style, with a split-folding rear seat with ski pass-through. In front, ventilated power front seats are split by a center console with adjustable armrest and integrated electronic parking brake. An illuminated starter button is readily available on the instrument panel, near the built-in navigation system with retractable screen.

The Azeal is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. Nissan did not release a horsepower rating.

    What's Edmunds' Take?

Nissan announced today its intention to bring a sub-Sentra-sized car to market in the near future. If the attractive Azeal is any indicator of what's to come we say, hurrah. Although it's easy to look your best dripping in shiny show paint, the idea of a well-packaged 2+2 coupe parked alongside the current 350Z makes our hearts sing. — Kelly Toepke
