The 2009 Nissan Armada was priced from $37,990 for the base 4x2 SE model to $48,640 for the 4x4 LE FFV model.
Nissan cut the number of model offerings on Armada from eight in 2009 to six for 2010. It also borrowed some of the 2010 Toyota Sequoia's model nomenclature, dubbing its high-end 4x2 and 4x4 models "Platinum" editions. The Armada Platinum edition bundles such goodies as heated front seats and steering wheel, power liftgate, moonroof, a DVD entertainment system and a navigation system.
"For the 2010 model year we've added new content, updated and simplified packaging [and] added visual enhancements inside and out," said Christian Meumier, Nissan North America marketing vice president.
All Armadas get the 5.6-liter V8, which is rated at 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque. The engine is linked to a five-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota announced pricing on the 2010 Sequoia last week, saying the SUV will range in price from $39,300, including an $800 destination charge, for the Sequoia SR5 4x2 to $59,705, including shipping, for the Sequoia Platinum 4x4 with a 5.7-liter V8. The Sequoia's pricing reflects an overall increase of $3,361 for all models, said the automaker.
Inside Line says: Nissan appears to take pains in pricing its big 2010 SUV in an era where consumers are skittish and hyper-aware of pricing and packaging. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
