Fox Marketing Nissan Altima Coupe
What's special about it?
Last year's 270-horsepower, sapphire-blue Versa was a pretty tough act to follow, but Fox Marketing has managed to turn up the heat — and the horsepower — for Nissan's 2007 SEMA Show display with a white-hot Altima coupe.
Once your eyes adjust to the blazing white BASF-RM paint job highlighted with black accents, the focus is on the unique mesh-type 20-inch Privat NEV wheels. They feature a silver-painted center with a polished lip, and they're wrapped in serious road-handling rubber in the form of 245/30R20 Toyo T1R tires. Speaking of serious equipment, lurking behind each wheel is a 13-inch brake rotor carrying a four-piston caliper from AP Racing, a setup executed by Brake Pros.
Imparting the coupe's aggressive attitude (and altitude) is a ride height that's 1.8 inches lower, courtesy of Performance Springs. Up front, the coupe wears a custom-fitted front spoiler from Extreme Dimensions.
Turbochargers.com did the engine build, so things are even more aggressive under the hood. The 3.5-liter VQ-Series V6 is fitted with a turbo kit by Artisan Performance that consists of a Turbonetics GTK650 turbo, an Evolution wastegate, Raptor blow-off valve and a ginormous (26 by 10 by 3 inches) intercooler. But wait. There are a lot more power-producing goodies stuffed under the hood from Artisan Performance, including a fuel rail with 650cc injectors, new crank pulley and high-capacity oil lines. In fact, once all of these performance- and reliability-enhancing items have taken up residence in the engine room, the battery had to be relocated using a special kit also supplied by Artisan Performance.
Eventually all those boost-inducing fumes must exit, and making sure they do so as freely as possible is an Artisan Performance 3-inch, turbo-back exhaust system. Fox Marketing claims the entire setup puts out more than 450 horsepower.
The driver of this coupe benefits from more than a big boost in performance. Black leather upholstery accented by red stitching trims the racing seats from Yonaka Racing, while STRI 60mm boost, oil pressure and exhaust-gas temperature gauges provide important information. Of course, besides the engine, the audio system also benefits from increased boost courtesy of Rockford Fosgate.
What's Edmunds' take?
