2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid
Base MSRP: $27,345
EPA fuel economy (city/highway): 35 mpg/33 mpg
If you don't live in California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont, you needn't worry about the Altima Hybrid. Those are the only states in which Nissan sells its gas-electric midsizer. Nissan licenses the hybrid technology from Toyota for use in the Altima, but takes a decidedly different approach to the tuning of its car versus the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Altima is still the quickest of the mainstream hybrid sedans (zero to 60 mph in the range of 7.5 seconds) but its ability to handle better than any of the hybrid competition is under serious pressure from the newly introduced Ford Fusion Hybrid. Still, the Altima is a good-looking, good-performing hybrid sedan.
