LONDON — Nissan in April will begin delivering the first of a limited run of cars to mark the 40th anniversary of the Z-car. In the U.S., the car will be called the 40th Anniversary Z, and it will debut at next week's 2010 Chicago Auto Show.
In Europe, the car will be dubbed Nissan 370Z Black Edition, and only 370 copies of the coupe will be produced for the European market, priced from $52,800 for the manual and $55,000 for the automatic.
The Anniversary Z is being offered in two metallic shades, black and quartz, both of which use Nissan's new Scratch Shield technology that self-repairs stone-chip damage.
Other external markings include 19-inch Rays dark-gray forged aluminum wheels, red brake calipers and anniversary badging.
The cockpit is trimmed in red leather and suede, and the seats get an embossed 40th-anniversary logo. Red stitching highlights the leather-wrapped steering wheel as well as the center cluster and center console. It also comes with Nissan's Connect Premium touchscreen satellite navigation/audio system.
Powering the commemorative Z is the familiar 323-horsepower 3.7-liter V6, with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

I have an original 1995 Steve Millen #26 out of a total of 35 made for their 35 anniversary edition it is rated at 365+ hp. It runs" fast and furious" and beats all other Z's including the newest models.

Folks if you read carefully, the 50K plus is in Europe. The car is 38K in the U.S. A bargain at that price! These are the good old days!

Do you guys read? Those are EUROPEAN prices...all cars are way more expensive over there.
It's 38K...and still a great value for a sports car.
I'd still say the NISMO at 39K is the best value.

"$50K+... I think anybody would be better off getting a Lancer Evolution or Impreza STi for that kind of money. Those are cheaper, looks better, performs better."
to elaborate....50K+ would buy you those cars and have u pocketing a pretty good sum. That 50k+ could be spent on much better cars then this, for once, its good to be in the USA for a special edition

For the Z-car afficionados who have big bucks, the price of the car is certainly not going to sway their decision.
They don't buy this car for the raw numbers - they buy it because it is a limited production Z car. End of story.
I highly doubt the buyers of these cars will even be considering a Subaru WRX or Mistu Lancer, which will not have anything in the league of the collectibility of this car.
The Subies and Evos of this world are econo-boxes taken to the extreme or Rally cars softened for the street. Their
And they seem to be good buys for the money.
But the heritage and panache of the Z-car they simply do not possess, a car which arguably compares with the Porsche Boxsters of the world at 30% less a price.

The European version has a lower HP rating I think, but it's still a typo.
At around 38-39 grand, its actually pretty good considering its about the same as a Z with the Touring & Sports package & also, includes a $2,000 navigation. The 40th Anniversary Z is essentially a fully loaded Z with extra's. I really wished they kept the rear wiper to begin with. The exterior color looks great, but I'm not sure about the red seats. To each his own I suppose. It also looks like they added spray nozzles for the headlights & rear window, I could be wrong.
The Evo X looks good, but the STi still looks fugly as hell. Then again, turbo'd econoboxes were never really about looks. They are both great "performace cars" but not really true sports cars. The Z is on par if not better in performace than both of these in stock form. Just for reference, take look at the Top Gear power laps and see for yourself. Except for maybe the FQ400. But then again one those will cost you roughly over 50,000 British Pounds (around 75,000 US Dollars) for a 400hp monster.

@mchspd1
The current 370Z is faster in the 1/4 mile and handles way better than the old 300ZX. So what you need twin turbos for? I think this 40th Anniversary Z is too expensive but the regular Z with the sport package is a whole lot of sport car for the money.

That is correct, it is 332 HP, not 323. The Z is a lot of car for the money. It would be nice if the 40th Anniversary edition had more power to justify it's higher sticker. Still only 1000 will be built for the U.S. market. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price* (M.S.R.P.) is $38,860 USD. Still not bad for a car of its calibre. Long live the Z!

I would love to buy this but my goodness....52K and not even twin turbos? forget it, i will pick up a used on in two years.
I am a super fan of the 90s Z, would still love to have a 95 twin turbo Black/Black, this model is the closest to the coolness of that model, but IMO Nissan needs to give a special High Performance model that is still fun to drive daily.
Give me a bit more that will make a Porsche driver think twice. Still hoping...

It's going to cost over 50K in Europe, it will be significantly cheaper state side. A base Z in the UK starts at almost 44K.
